Asthma
is a common, long term or chronic respiratory condition that affects
your airways. The bronchioles connected to your lungs, responsible
for letting air in and out, are affected when you come in contact
with an irritant. Inflammation of bronchioles occurs, which restrict
the airflow, causing symptoms such as wheezing, breathlessness, cough
and chest tightness. Flixotide is an inhaler that has proven quite
effective in treating asthma. This medication has also been effective
as a long term preventative
treatment for asthma attacks. Flixotide is available in two
different versions – Flixotide Accuhaler and Evohaler, the only
difference in the way the two are administered.
The
Evohaler is just like a standard inhaler, which contains the
medication in a compressed form. It contains the fluticasone
propionate as its main ingredient, which is delivered directly into
your lungs by the Flixotide Evohaler. To take this medication, you
need to place the mouth piece in your mouth and press the canister,
as a result of which a puff of medication is released into your
mouth. This preventative inhaler, if used simultaneously with a
reliever inhaler, is quite effective in preventing the asthma
symptoms. The main ingredient of this inhaler prevents the release of
the chemicals that are responsible for causing inflammation of the
bronchioles.
